Letters From Ralph
San Diego Vacation Rental
Sewing Special Wednesday
On Wednesday, June 28, from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Leonard Blok will be at the store cleaning and oiling sewing machines. If you buy $10 worth of goods from the store, he will do this at no charge. He will also have several used sewing machines for sale, that he has fixed and he will guarantee them to work. He will also have them set up so that he can show you how to thread them and use the attachments. Also on that day, all sewing items in the store will be 20% off including our Gutermann thread. We don’t put that on sale very often. Louise will also have some specials on lace and doilies. We hope to see many of you come next Wednesday. The Festival Latino will also be held on that day in our Central Park, just a little southwest of our store. There will be food and games and the music of Orquesta Alto Maiz.
All of Orange City is getting ready for RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride
Across Iowa) which starts in Orange City this year on July 23. Every Friday until then
everyone in town is encouraged to wear their Orange City RAGBRAI tee shirt. Most of the
merchants are giving special discounts to anyone wearing their shirt on Fridays. It
is called RAGBRAI Spirit Friday. The Chamber is holding a contest with the
following rules: 1. It must be Friday. 2. All customers wearing RAGBRAI shirts
are eligible for discounts. 3. Eligible customers may submit only one entry
form per purchase. 4. Customers must make a purchase to be eligible. 5.
Customers must be wearing their shirt to be eligible. 6. Must be 18 to enter contest
(not to receive discount). Each business participating has a box from which they
will draw a name on July 24. Each store will draw one name. We will bring that one
name to the Chamber office and from them they will draw three slips. First place
will receive $80, second place $50 and third place $30. I’m not sure whether that
will be actual cash or Chamber Bonus Bucks, but they are really about the same
thing. Chamber Bonus Bucks can be used like real money in any store that belongs
to the Chamber, which I suspect is most of them.
Friends of NISO Garden Tour 2017
For the past year I have been serving on the board of NISO (Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra). One of our main fundraisers is a garden tour of Sioux Center gardens. This year the tour will run from Thursday, July 6, 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Friday, July 7, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. There will four garden sites and will conclude at Ground Effects where everyone will get a truffle. Tickets cost $15 and can be purchased at the Sioux Center Chamber Office, Jubon Juweelen and four County Extension Offices (Sioux, Lyon, O’Brien and Osceola). You can also purchase a ticket at one of the garden sites. All proceeds will go to the NISO student scholarship fund. If you would like more information about the garden sites, please call 712.737.8920 or contact us via e-mail at email@example.com.
It was time to update our website. It can still be found at jubonjuweelen.biz. I am going to try to keep up a blog on the site. There should be a place on the blog for you to add your own comments as well. We’d love to hear from you. The site will continue to change as we add new photos and more information, but it is coming along nicely.
Perusing our Guest Book
I’m not sure how much stock to put in my license plate game board this month. I looked over one day and every license had been turned back to red. So I turned over the ones I could remember and hoped that people registered in the book to reinforce the state they were from. As far as I know, this month we had people from Alaska, Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, Virginia, Wisconsin and all over Iowa. We also had people from Rosedale, British Columbia in Canada, Mexico City in Mexico, and Noord Brabart, Holland.
